GPA weighting
GPA = Σ(grade points × credits) ÷ Σ credits
Letter grades convert to a 4.0 scale (A = 4.0, B+ = 3.3, etc.). Credits provide the weight so labs, lectures, and electives count appropriately.
How to use
- Add each course, select its letter grade, and enter the credit hours.
- Use the add/remove controls as semesters change.
- Review the resulting GPA, letter equivalent, and total credits counted.
Example
Input: A (3 credits), B+ (4 credits), A- (2 credits)
Output: GPA ≈ 3.62, Quality points ≈ 29, Total credits = 9
FAQ & notes
How do I include pass/fail classes?
Exclude pass/fail courses from the credit list—they do not impact GPA on most transcripts.
Can I switch to a 5.0 or weighted scale?
This version uses the common 4.0 scale. Export the data to a spreadsheet if you need a custom weighting scheme.
